Since 2012 I am working as a mental health caregiver in the psychiatric sector. I decided to take my career to the next level and started orientating on available masters. In these three years that I work in the sector I experienced and realised that the usual provided care will change over time. The quality of care should improve and with expected budget cuts in the sector it is likely it should be obtained with less employees. Technology can help to face some of the challenges ahead and further improve the quality of care. I decided to join the master Care & Technology because I believe this master can provide me the right tools to become that professional who understands what is needed to reach those goals.
After finishing the first modules I am more convinced that this is the right choice for me. Performing a literature study, working on different user research aspect and creating a wiki about a selected topic showed me once more that technology is everywhere. The challenge is to make technology useable and design it in such a way that it can be part of the standard provided care. I am convinced that the upcoming modules will teach me new insights to further define the topic I want to focus on.
